I am interested in the interactions between wildlife conservation and farming or game management systems. So, I have worked in many research projects which involved the conflicts between hunting, farming and conservation, among which stand out:

  • 2007-present: I have studied study the ecology and the effect of game management of Eurasian woodcock Scolopax rusticola on their wintering populations. I carried out at IREC the Phd titled: “Factors that modulate woodcock wintering abundance: implication for its management and conservation”. I am currently working with the development and implementation of tools which allow to monitor the woodcock abundance and its hunting pressure.
  • 2010-present: I have studied study the productivity and reproductive phenology of red-legged partridge Alectoris rufa. In 2011, I carried out the TFM titled: “Spatio-temporal variation of red-legged partridge productivity in Castilla-La Mancha”. I analysed the data of partridge censuses of Castilla-La Mancha which are carried out by regional administration. Also, I am working on different studies about the effect of habitat and the release of farm-reared red-legged partridges on partridge productivity.
  • 2014 – 2015: I studied the common vole (Microtus arvalis) cyclic density fluctuations as postdoctoral research at Valladolid University and I worked on the vole demographic and the development of predictive tools for pest management in farmland.
  • 2006 – 2010 Farming management impacts on the biodiversity.
